Long Days (originally published June 7, 2010)

We're closing in on the Summer solstice this month, and since Seattle is fairly far north (48 degree, 45 is halfway to the pole) we get very long days in the Summer. It gets light early and stays light until late, so it's setting a bit after 9 now.

Weather has been fairly wet and cool, so it doesn't feel that close to Summer, but it's almost here. I keep telling myself that as I get drenched walking to the bus. Long sunny days are much nicer than long cold wet days. At least until they get too hot, then I'll whine about that - but that's usually not until August.

More fresh produce for better prices in the stores, we've even had to think about sun block once or twice, and the frogs are making a ruckus most nights - the signs are there. Any day now it will get warm and sunny. Probably beginning the day after the 4th of July, I suppose.
